Morning Bike Ride up Zion Canyon's Scenic Drive
Nancy really enjoys riding up the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive as often as possible. It’s a 16.7 mile ride, with about 580 feet of elevation gain to the back of the canyon (shuttle stop 9) … then a great ride down! Because it gets so hot here in June, she prefers to do it early in the day, before the sun has come over the canyon walls - it’s both cooler and less crowded with the many e-bike rental riders.
Come up the Canyon with her!
This is the start of the Scenic Drive - where only the Shuttles and Bicycles drive this time of the year
The initial part of the ride is uphill. Here the sun is just starting to shine on this tree and the opposite side of the canyon
The scenic drive climbs along the Virgin River …
Shuttle Stop 4 - Court of the Patriarchs - is the end of the first climb …
Then it’s a beautiful ride under trees towards the Lodge and Grotto stops …
The climbing starts again …
Then it’s the final stretch into the end of the canyon ….
The ride back … first a small climb back up to Big Bend …
Then the thrill of going downhill fast begins!
Finally, back on the Pa’rus Trail towards Watchman Campground, where it crosses the Virgin River multiple times …
Favorite way to start the day!
