Devils Garden Trail, Part 2
Leaving the Black Rock Arch Overlook, we made our way to the Double O Arch (#13) 1, where we enjoyed a snack along side a group of high schoolers on a trip from Colorado Springs
We then hiked over to “Dark Angel” - a spire that can be seen from all around the park
We were up on a plateau at this point - and had a wonderful view of the valley
The trail then headed down. We wanted to find Private Arch (#14), which wasn’t marked (we were now completely on the primative trail). With AllTrails downloaded on Nancy’s phone, and the help of a young couple who had it tracking on their watch - we found it! The highlight of the day was then the walk further up the fins, where we had amazing views. We had lunch with them (both engineers!) looking out into the valley. No one else found it the entire time we were there … Private!
Then we headed down. The terrain changed again …
There was another steep section to get down …
And then we again saw the snow capped La Sal mountains …
This was a beautiful hike …
Nancy was so happy to be out on the trail hiking all day. She turned to me and said "This is why we volunteer in the National Parks!"
